The Executive Council of the Kurdistan Teachers Union (KTU) holds its regular meeting.

On Thursday, April 27, 2023, the Executive Council of the Kurdistan Teachers Union held a meeting and discussed several topics, the first topic was about presenting a summary of the activities of the Secretariat during the past (3) months, as well as discussing the current issues of education and teachers' demands.

In the second topic, Ahmed Saber Garmyani, President of the Kurdistan Teachers Union, presented the program of the International Organization on the occasion of the launch of the Global Campaign for Learning.

The third topic was dedicated to reading the reports of the branches of the (KTU) and the committees of the Secretariat Bureau. The meeting also discussed the comments on the education process and higher education in general and the academic year 2022-2023.

The fourth and final topic was to read the report of the High Election Committee and discuss the important principles of the elections and determine the date of the elections of (Kurdistan Teachers Union).

At the end of the meeting, a Press Conference was held in which the most important decisions and recommendations were presented.

At the beginning of the Press Conference, Mr. Ahmed Saber Garmyani, President of the Kurdistan Teachers Union, presented the results of the meeting. On behalf of the Kurdistan Teachers Union, he congratulated both the Central and Kurdistan Regional Governments for signing the agreement on the Oil Contract and hoped that it would be a blessing for the people of the Kurdistan Region and end the salary problems.

He then sent a peaceful message to the parties in the government to put aside their differences and start important work that will serve the people of Kurdistan, he made a number of demands, the most important of which are:

• Paying salaries on time, starting to promote teachers and employees, and working to solve teachers' problems.

• Allocating appropriate budgets for each of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education.

• Accelerating the process of opening bank accounts for teachers and employees, establishing a system for paying salary arrears, and paying the difference between the governorates of Erbil, Duhok and part of the Kurdish education in Kirkuk.

Then Ahmed Saber Garmyani wished the students success in their final exams and getting good marks in their final examination.

After that, Mr. Abdulwahid Mohammed Haji, Vice President and the chairman of the High Election Committee presented the results of the discussions on the election process. The date (03-12-2023) was announced for the election of the Kurdistan Teachers Union in the Kurdistan Region.
