In Reykjavik, Iceland - the International Summit on Teaching Profession (ISTP2025) began today in Iceland's capital, with the attendance of teacher unions and education ministers from around the world.
The main focus of this year's summit is primary education - a field where teachers, mostly women, are consistently undervalued, overworked, and underpaid.
Summit participants emphasized the need to increase primary education funding and campaigned to make it a free and public service for all families.
The Director-General of the International Teachers Union stated: "We must give more importance to primary education and the educators working in this field. This is an investment in the future of our entire community."
The summit is expected to continue for three days and is anticipated to yield clear political commitments regarding how to improve primary education conditions.
